Vivo Music is one of South Africa’s most trusted distributors of sheet music – for all instruments, genres, and abilities. For over twenty years, Vivo Music has partnered with numerous schools, music colleges, music teachers and independent musicians throughout Cape Town, the wider Western Cape, and South Africa in general. We take great pride in our personal service and feel honoured to have been a part of so many local musicians’ journeys.
Vivo Music was established in 2000 by Jenny and Graham Coote, local musicians and music teachers frustrated by their inability to source sheet music without long delays. They established the business and started importing and distributing music to Cape Town’s music teaching community. The business has grown from there, adding instrument hire along the way, and adding a more diverse set of book titles as our customer list grew. Personalized service and school deliveries were among some of the early distinguishing features of Vivo Music.
In 2021, Peter Borchers partnered with Jenny and acquired Vivo Music, preparing for Jenny to step back from day-to-day operations. Peter’s background in amateur music (piano and choral), business, and technology are perfectly suited to taking the business forward, building on the loyal network of customers and suppliers Jenny established over many years.
